Back to School Prep
It’s mid July and the sun is shinning brightly. You are trying to enjoy your last few days of summer before you start the daily grind back at school. You start wondering where to begin to set your year for success. No worries. Below, I have outlined some easy things to prep to make “Back to School” easier for you and your staff.
To prep my year for success, I prepare as much as possible over the summer so I can be ready to go during the school year.
A few things on my summer check list are:
Create my B2S (Back to School) agenda for my teachers so that everyone knows where and when they need to be at a the beginning of the year PD
Send out a Duty Schedule for teachers to sign up for (game changer!)
Get my back to school powerpoint ready, along with all of my teacher sign ups and handouts
Create my school’s “Data Calendar” (Example Below)
Schedule B2S meetings w/ title teachers, BLT, new teachers and mentors (& send an email out with info to them!)
Check over the master schedule- Do you have common plan time build in?
I send an email out with a google sheet to have everyone update their birthdays and addresses. I use these throughout the year for birthday cards and other “thank you”s
I schedule future emails to remind:
New teachers to get me lesson plan. I set the reminder for every other week.
ESL teachers and para to get me their ESL para logs (1x a month)
New teachers and their mentors to turn in their mentor logs and meet weekly (At the end of each month)
Check in on your accountability partner (building buddy) (1x a month)
